On our 1st lesson, we learnt about The Internet & 'WWW'. What exactly is WWW? We see this in almost every URL- Uniform Resource Locator. WWW stands for World Wide Web. We also found out how the Internet has grown over the years, increasingly. The history of Internet, how it works, basically almost everything about Internet or related to Internet was taught. Plug-ins are programmes that extend the capability of an Internet browser, that can be downloaded for free from many websites. Web publishing is the development and maintenance of a web. One very important thing that takes place in the Internet is E-Commerce. Without it, you will not be able to earn money on the Internet, or buy items on the Internet. The 'E' is short-form for Electronic. So, it is now obvious that E-mail is also Electronic mail. We all know what an E-mail is, everyone needs one for business or work.
A URL starts with 'http'. So what exactly is that? It is HyperText Transfer Protocol. Some of us might also have seen 'FTP'. FTP simply means File Transfer Protocol. The 'TP' in 'FTP' and 'HTTP' is the same. FTP allows you to download or upload files with other computers on the Internet. A Newsgroup is a discussion panel whereby you talk about one particular subject or topic. However, most people or websites will use a Message Board instead as it is much more easier to use.
Internet Telephony lets you talk to someone else on the Internet, as you can tell from the word 'Telephony'. You should know what an etiquette is right? Well there are etiquette for many things like dining etiquette. The net itself also does. The only difference is that it isn't called an etiquette. Instead, it is called a netiquette. Rules are rules. There are rules in the real world, why shouldn't there be rules in the Virtual world? So, we still have to follow the rules of the Internet.
Treat others the way you want them to treat you.
